The Seax or Sax, was universal in Northern Europe. Carried and used by the Saxons, Angles,Vikings and German tribes, its use probably dates to before the fall of Rome and continues on into the early Middle Ages. The lobed pommel and guard are brass, and the wood grip is studded with brass tacks, for a very secure and comfortable grip. The blade is etched on both sides, flat ground, and capable of taking and holding a razor sharp edge. Leather sheath riveted and laced like the originals, has two thong slots.

same seax, same price, different vendor I picked up this model seax from a different site, unsharpened, and for the same price.
I sharpened it and added some leather spacers into its handle before testing it by hacking into a wooden round shield. It cut 2-4 inches through thick raw hide and into the plywood. I also stabbed the shield with very controlled thrusts, the tip not only held up without bending/snapping. But it also made it through the 3/8ths inch ply.
It seemed really fragile until I added the leather spacers (one in between the handle&hilt, the other between the handle&pommel).
It’s a great seax with the simple addition.
Way tougher than I thought, and man, the thing’s just gorgeous.
I would have liked to know what kind of steel it’s made of, either way I’m pleased with it.

purchased this model second-hand many years ago for only $20 and it was my most cherished posession! at the time I was with a chainmail making group and they constantly borrowed it to show how sturdy the butted mail was. (more impressed the tip never deformed after hundreds if not thousands of stabs into wood backed heavy guage wire)
