The Warmonger from Darksword is a particularly imposing barbarian warsword that is iconic in its epic sword-and-sorcery styling; no mere prop, the sword is robust and durable and battle-ready! The sword is a fantastic piece to center a collection or a powerful cutter for those who want to bring out their inner barbarian warlord. Despite being built for action and featuring beautifully cast solid bronze hilt fittings the sword does not feel heavy in the hands and instead feels surprisingly agile and capable.
This barbarian sword represents the most technically demanding piece Darksword has produced to date. Its intricate, multi-section bronze castings required an exceptionally high level of precision, making the project far more complex than any previous design. In particular, fitting the elongated “claw” guard to the blade demanded careful engineering and painstaking handwork to achieve a seamless, secure fit.
The guard and pommel are cast from solid bronze, giving the hilt both striking visual presence and substantial durability. Complementing this elaborate hilt is a blade forged from 5160 high-carbon steel, dual hardened to approximately 60 HRC at the cutting edge with a tougher 48–50 HRC core for resilience and shock absorption. The result is a sword that pairs demanding craftsmanship and bold aesthetics with the functional strength expected of a serious, battle-ready weapon.
The blade is forged from 5160 high carbon steel which is precision-tempered to possess a differentially-tempered edge at 60 HRc and a blade body tempered to a shock absorbing 48-50 HRc. The blade is precision-etched on both sides in runic inscription. The wide cutting blade is carefully mounted into a hilt with a guard and pommel of gorgeously cast and solid antiqued bronze. The long tang of the blade goes entirely through the grip and pommel where it was peened over the pommel to solidly anchor the whole construction together. The grip is wood which was finished with a careful wrap of cord-impression leather for a tactile grip with plenty of leverage for mighty, two-handed strikes.
The sword is matched in its barbarous aura with a well crafted wooden scabbard which is bound in fur and completed with a latticework binding of suede leather. A chape of meticulously detailed bronze and an intricate scabbard slide for a baldric or belt complete this companion for the barbarian champion.
