Additional information

This Utility Khukuri created by Ex-Gurkha Khukuri House has a blade of 5160 high carbon steel that has been largely left unpolished, making the blade resistant to rust. The blade has been differentially-tempered to have a harder, dull-resisting edge and a softer steel body that will resist breakage because it absorb shock. The edge hardness is 54-55 HRC, the body is 45-46 HRC and the spine hardness is 22-25 HRC.

The thick tang is fitted with two riveted slabs of rosewood for a grip and has a bolster and pommel cap of steel. The scabbard is of carved pinewood and traditional Laha glued construction. It is wrapped in tight black leather with an integrated belt loop of leather.

While most associate the Kukri as a fighting blade, in Nepal it is a blade that comes in a wild array of forms for other purposes both symbolic and utilitarian. This smaller Khukuri is of a form and size fitting of a utilitarian, everyday Kukri that could be used by one for both work and to cut food for ones meal.

Well made utility knife! For thirty dollars, this little knife is well worth the price. The blade is well made and well tempered, the edge is sharp, and with a little fine tuning it can hold an even keener edge. The sheath is well done, but is basic and utilitarian. And as always, KoA’s customer service and shipping was spot on. I was very satisfied with this transaction.
