The Cedric Longsword is a meticulously crafted Medieval-style longsword from VB Swordshop of Hungary designed for sport combat, reenactment, and stage use. Built with a focus on durability and performance it combines a high-quality spring steel blade with a reinforced hilt to ensure the sword is fully capable of handling intensive blade-on-blade contact while remaining visually authentic.
Measuring 35.5 inches in blade length, the high-carbon spring steel blade is blunted for safety, with an edge thickness of approximately 2–3 mm and a rounded spatulate tip. The blade is tempered to a hardness of 50–54 HRc, giving it resilience for repeated impact without sacrificing balance or control. Both crossguard and pommel are made from steel, and the blade is securely mounted with a wide peen over the pommel. Additional reinforcement comes from welding the blade tang to the crossguard and pommel, creating a solid, dependable construction. Even the gap between the blade and crossguard in the guard slot is shimmed with steel to further secure and reinforce the blade at a critical junction.
The 9 and 3/8 inch beechwood grip is wrapped in leather, providing a secure, comfortable hold for one or two hands. Despite the sword’s robust construction and thick blade, it remains surprisingly easy to wield, weighing approximately 3 lbs 6 oz with a point of balance roughly 3.5 inches above the guard. The Cedric Longsword is a versatile and reliable choice for armored practitioners, reenactors, and anyone seeking a sport-ready, historically inspired longsword.
