Inspired by the sweeping epics of Norse mythology comes this wood boxed gift set of Viking belt tools; a hatchet and dagger and each are deeply infused with Viking legendary character. The double-headed hatchet axe is built solidly for light camp duties or self defense in a pinch and has an antique-finished axe head of tempered 1055 high carbon steel. It is embellished with ancient Nordic runes: Raido (journey), Fehu (wealth), Wunjo (joy), Ehwaz (movement), Naudiz (need), Eihwaz (defense), Teiwaz (warrior), Othila (separate), and Thuisaz (giant). The handle is dark stained hardwood which is finished with etched Norse runes. Faux fur gives it a finishing touch of northlands flair.
The companion seax dagger has a raven head pommel in homage to the twin ravens of Odin; Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory) who were his eyes and ears, bringing to Odin the happenings of the world and the names of the worthy warriors felled in battle. The blade is tempered and sharpened 1055 high carbon steel with a forge-finished appearance. The guard and pommel are steel with an ancient, antiqued finish and the hardwood grip is bound in a leather wrap. The blade is thick, rigid and sturdy and well suited to a variety of utility tasks or self defense.
Included is a fine quality leather sheath for both tools, as well as a wooden gift box with antiqued finished brass hardware and fetching etched design and leather cords for tying the tools into place.
