This Templar Crusader sword by Windass captures the essence of the Knights who took their vows to defend the Cross and the Pilgrims to the Holy Land. The sword has the large, broad-bladed proportions favored by the knights who would have been trained since childhood to wield such powerful cutting weapons in battle, both on foot and on horseback. The allegiance of this sword and the warrior who would bear it is made clear with the inscription on both sides of the crossguard: Christus Vincit ~Christus Regnat  – Christ Conquers ~ Christ Reigns.

The blade is forged from well tempered and sharpened 1080 high carbon steel and features a cut-out cross at the base of the blade. The tempered hardness of the steel is 48-52 HRc. The guard and pommel are of steel and the pommel features a pair of replica coins struck by Bohemond II, Crusader Prince of Antioch. The grip is wrapped by hand in high quality dark brown leather to finish the sword. Included is a  scabbard of tough, top grain leather which is lavishly embellished in the Cross and its included sword belt features medallions with the sigil of the Knights Templar.

Aside from minor issues like a slight bend in the blade, a pretty scuffed up cross guard, and a crooked fit on the metal tip of the scabbard, it seems like a very solid and cool looking sword. The point of balance seems to be about 5 inches from the guard which makes it pretty maneuverable, the handle is comfortable and makes it easy to align the edge. I guess my only issue with the design is that the pommel is a little big and somewhat uncomfortable, which is an issue since this swords handle seems to be designed for hand an a half use.
