Overview
Devil's Edge - Damascus Blade Khukuri
This Khukuri has a blade of Damascus Steel; the blade is vibrantly patterned with the visible burl-like pattern created by the mixing of two different steels to create Damascus. The bolster and pommel are of brass and the grip is of well polished wood. It comes with a stitched leather sheath with a belt loop and retaining strap.
The Kukuri blade is well known for being a fierce chopping blade, but some, such as this example, have tip that is up-turned enough to make it an able thrusting weapon as well; the wide tip will ensure that even a shallow wound is made quite wide in short order.

Q&A
Questions from the community
Q What is the blade made of, and what does the pattern mean? Common Question
The blade is forged from Damascus steel, made by folding and forge-welding two different steels together. That process creates the wavy, wood-grain-like pattern visible along the blade, and it also gives the steel a fine grain structure suited to a hard-use chopping tool.
Q Does this khukuri come sharp, and is it meant for real use? Common Question
Yes, this khukuri ships with a sharp edge and is classified as Battle Ready, meaning it is built from full-tang, durable construction suited to actual chopping and cutting work rather than display only.
Q Can this khukuri be used for cutting tatami mats or water bottles? Common Question
The sharp Damascus steel edge and the blade's forward curve and belly make it well suited to test cutting targets like tatami mats or water bottles. The up-turned tip also allows controlled thrusts, so the blade handles both draw cuts and point work.
Q What is the handle made of, and how is it built? Common Question
The grip is well-polished dark wood, fitted with a brass bolster and pommel. The pommel is peened and pinned in place, a traditional method that locks the tang mechanically into the handle for a durable, hard-use knife.
Q Does it come with a sheath? Common Question
Yes, it includes a stitched leather sheath with a belt loop and a retaining strap to hold the knife secure when worn. The sheath shows cream-colored saddle stitching along the edges and a snap closure with a decorative metal stud.
Q How is the weight distributed, and what does that mean for handling? Common Question
At 1 lb 0.2 oz with the point of balance sitting 2 inches out from the grip, the weight is carried forward toward the blade. That forward balance is typical of khukuri design and is what gives the blade its chopping power.
Q What is the notch near the base of the blade for? Common Question
Near the ricasso, just before the handle, there's a notch cut into the blade -- a traditional khukuri feature known as the kaudi. It marks the transition from cutting edge to handle and is a hallmark of authentic khukuri design.
Q How should I care for this knife? Common Question
Since it carries a sharp Damascus steel edge, wipe the blade down after handling and apply a light coat of oil before storing to prevent rust, especially along the pattern-welded surface. Store it in a dry place outside the leather sheath, since a sheath can trap moisture against the blade over time. The wood grip and brass fittings need only an occasional wipe to stay in good condition.

Damascus kukri Awesome overall finish. Well crafted piece. One problem though, the weld in the blade isn’t sealed properly with minor gaps in the damascus. Other than that fantastic weapon, hold up very well with abusive testing.
Another Great Knife From Devil’s Edge! A friend of mine was kind enough to buy this for me for Christmas and I was amazed with the quality of this Khukuri. First of all it looks really nice! The pattern welding on the blade and brass accents add a lot in the looks department. And as far as function goes this knife is a great example of why the Khukuri has been used for so long, and this knife can CUT! Everything I put up to this beautiful beast was effortlessly sliced with no issue. the only problem I found is the three grooves on the bottom of the handle are a little abrasive when they could’ve been sanded down on the edges to improve the ergonomics. Over all however this is one hundred percent worth all the money and then some!
A real well made knife. The pattern is beautiful, the steel is good quality, and it feels real comfortable in the hand. I’d absolutely recommend.
Very nice blade. Feels really good in the hand. The guy who mad the abrasive handle comment must have dish pan hands or something. Thing feels good, well balanced. Chops through small trees, pallets, then still takes the hair off my arm. Well made khukuri. Just buy it.
