Burgundian Fluted Helm

This elegant, late 15th Century helm is perhaps the most refined and skillful execution of the kettle hat. Simple, yet highly protective, this helm is modeled after an historical example contained in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY. Dating to about 1475, this late Medieval war helm would have been a type worn by the well-equipped pikemen and men-at-arms on the payroll of the wealthy Dukes of Burgundy. It offers the great protection from downward strikes and sky-falling arrows that the kettle helm affords, while not restricting the sight and hearing of the warrior, making him better able to fight cohesively with his comrades in the mass infantry formations of the time.

This Burgundian Fluted Helm is crafted from 14 gauge high carbon steel that has been riveted and welded. The interior has been blackened and is fitted with an integrated leather lining and suspension that has been strongly glued into place. It has an integrated chin strap with an adjustable buckle.
