Irish Gaelic Arming Sword - Deepeeka
The Gaelic-Norse Arming Sword has the characteristic ring pommel and winged quillons that are iconic of medieval Irish swords; the blade is forged from tempered high carbon steel and has a hollow-ground cross section which gives it a strong spine and reduced weight.
The handcrafted hilt components are a pierced quatrefoil crossguard and a ring pommel which is peened onto the tang. The wooden grip has a diamond cross-section with rounded edges which fit well into the palm - its edges aid the user in intuitively knowing their edge alignment by reading the angle of the grip in the palm. The grip is finished with a tightly fitted leather binding. The wood-core companion scabbard is bound in stitched leather.
With its hollow-ground blade this sword is quite agile and responsive for a stage and sport combat sword. Overall a great sword for the price. I found the grip to be too small to handle comfortably, but this was easily fixed with an additional wrapping.
