Overview
Albion The Constable Sword
Albion named this sword after Bertrand du Guesclin (1320-1380), Constable of France from 1370 to 1380. He is considered one of the greatest French soldiers of his time and one of the important figures of the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453).
The title constable was usually held by a courtier in charge of keeping the horses of his lord, coming from the Latin ''comes stabulari''(count of the stables). The office 'constable' was often held by the person in charge of the defence of a castle -- even today, there is a Constable of the Tower of London. In some countries, such as France, this title developed into a high military rank.
This is a short and handy hand-and-a-half sword with a very stiff blade, primarily for thrusting, but pretty decent for cutting as well. When you handle these swords they are very ready in your hand. Because the tip is so narrow, the spine can be made thick without making the blade overly heavy - this makes the blade tip stiff and effective at thrusting.
The Constable has a hand ground high carbon steel blade is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is stabilized birch wood, cord-wrapped and fitted over with tight leather.
The sword grip comes in a selection of colors, please select an option below.

Exquisite and Elegant Sword I couldn’t find the perfect word to describe this sword, so I went with exquisite and elegant. Elegant in the way it is used in science as in “gracefully concise or simple” and exquisite as in “of rare excellence in production or execution”.
I can only say that a person must not only hold this sword, but actually swing and thrust it to understand how fine it truly is. Looking closely at the point one sees how it is so strongly reinforced it is. This sword is beautifully crafted rather than just “made”. Holding the sword gives the sense of a truly lethal weapon that will not fail in defense of life, yet it is light and graceful in the hand.
I have heard many people say that they didn’t know how a sword should feel until they held an Albion and I thought it was just hype. But I never knew the true sense of a fine sword until I held this sword.
This will not be the last Albion that I buy.
