Overview

Albion Sherriff Sword

The word Sheriff comes from the early English medieval term Shire-Reeve. The Shire Reeve was a man who was either appointed by a Lord to oversee his lands, enforce the laws and organize watches, patrols and basic defense. Some were elected by the people and this practice became increasingly common. After the Norman conquest, the position changed into the Sheriff being an agent of the king and the enforcer of his laws and the tax collector within a shire county.

This sword has a broad blade that tapers to a sharp point, a short grip and a bold and broad cross guard - these features date the style to 1275-1340. These shorter swords, though compact, are very responsive and quick and the wide blade ensures that when they hit, they do so with great force.

The Sheriff has a hand ground high carbon steel blade is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is stabilized birch wood, cord-wrapped and fitted over with tight leather.

A great infantry weapon! When I got The Sherriff it really lived up to all my expectations! Even thow it has some weight to it, it feels very light in the hand. It is quick, very responsive and has great point control! The shape of the blade makes it a really good cutter but at the same time a good stabber. Due to it’s short overall length it’s a perfect infantry sword to be used with a shield or a buckler. And combined with the good point control it gives you the possibillity to land precise stabbs were you want them. It also makes it very effective in confined spaces or in a tight formation were a longer blade is more in the way. I highly recommend The Sherriff! It is one of my absolute favorite swords!
