15th Century Arming Sword - 5.5mm Thick - Deepeeka
This late 15th Century Arming sword would look right at home in both the gauntlet-clad hand of a knight or as a sidearm for professional man-at-arms or archer during the Hundred Years War. It takes its stylization from many of the Castillon hoard of swords that were found in a river in France - probably as cargo on a barge which foundered in the river. This large finding of swords were believed to have been crafted in England from a few workshops and were likely part of a military campaign resupply effort which was lost.
This blade of this 15th Century Arming Sword is hand-forged from high carbon steel which has been tempered and solidly fitted into the hilt for a strong overall construction. The crossguard and pommel are steel and the carved grip is wood with a tight binding of stitched leather. The sword is matched with a companion wood-core scabbard which is finished with tight and protective stitched leather wrap.

Great for the price!
To start off I would like to overview my experience.
First the not so good…
The scabbard came a bit bowed which put the tiniest bow in the blade, the pommel and guard can be uncomfortably sharp with certain handing, the blade is balanced very forward and with certain handing the handle area can get pointy.
Now for the good (why end on a bad note :P )
Nothing on the blade rattles when knocked with a hand, the blade looks in great condition with no blemishes, the scabbard is firm and grippy, the blade doesn’t rattle when banged with a 2×4 (don’t ask…) and I appreciate the look my fiance gave me after she heard how much I spent! (Only one night on the futon for this guy)
Extra notes
With sharpening I believe the balance could be adjusted and brought backward, a bit of sand paper and a buffing wheel will soften the guard and pommel!

I Recently received mine today and am happy to report no issues! aside from the occasional “new sword” rust, the blade was well put together. The sword was straight and true, solid handle/guard/pummel construction. The balance is on the heavy side since it is a templar style arming sword, but otherwise well made for the price.
I was also impressed with the sharpening service. The blade was beveled on both sides with a very clean and uniform edge. I will note however that I have not tested it’s cutting potential since I am more of a collector. That being said, I am very satisfied with my first purchase from KoA!
