LK Chen - Long Quan Jian
Long Quan Jian is a recreation of a classic Qing Dynasty Lion Head Jian name after the famous sword making town of Long Quan. LK Chen bring back to life this Qing Dynasty classic based on detailed studies of the originals. Like the original, the Long Quan Jian is a quick and responsive sword, well suited to complex forms and quite capable of powerful, decisive cuts and thrusts and it is also full of detail of character. The blade is crafted from sharp and well-tempered folded 1065 carbon steel and T8 high carbon steel and the melding and mixing of the two steels together into a single blade by the swordsmith has created a blade that is full of vibrant, ripple-like patterning.
The guard and pommel are crafted from fine cast brass and the grip is polished wood. The sword is matched with a wooden scabbard which is tightly bound in black leather and completed with detailed brass components to match the sword. Included is a cloth sword bag for storage and transport.

Very fun and outstanding cutting Jian!
I took a chance on this particular sword. Not because it was mid-range cost or because it’s my first Jian. I took a chance because Sword Saint and Diatrex both made YT reviews and both were impressed with the handling and cutting. I thought, and still think, it’s a nice looking sword but it isn’t IMO what I find really visually appealing compared to say the Gale Wind or some other “classic” versions. So I bought it based on how much I enjoy cutting and drilling with swords and wanted to give it a shot to see if it was worth it. For some context I own many other swords of various styles, cultures, and dynamic properties. And this sword is definitely it worth it!
It is unbelievably light, fast, and agile. Okay, so what? The “so what” is how good it cuts while being all those things. It is deceptively powerful and cuts far above its weight and for the style of sword it is; on par with Sword Saint and Diatrex experiences. Put another way, it’s one of those swords that instinctively fits and moves like the stick in your hand you swung around when you were a kid. Not that it is a toy because it is not. But more like it just feels right, light, and your going hit or cut just about anything you want without much learning needed to quickly know how to use it.
I gave it 5 stars despite it not being my favorite looking kind of Jian. 4.5 wasn’t an option. The cutting and quickness and overall “fun” and “practical use” factors are why I was willing to rate higher than I would otherwise. That and I wanted to put up a review of KoA so others who might be on the fence on this one can have more info to help with your decison. Bottom lines: if you like this aesthetic, you should definitely buy this mode. If it isn’t your favorite aesthetic BUT you love backyard cutting or doing drills or just want a kick azz super light, very sharp, Jian then definitely buy this sword. If the look isn’t right and you don’t really use your swords and it’s just for display, then you probably are not even reading this review. Overall I give it 4.5 stars but since I can’t I’ll stick to 5 based on the above reasons.
