Windlass – Signature Series Arbedo Sword

Introducing the Signature Series by Windlass! All-time favorites, reissued by Windlass Steelcrafts® with several upgrades! For starters, the blade is forged with better 1075 high carbon steel which has been sharpened and finished with a quality temper. The blade also has more distal taper for a more responsive and agile sword. The guard and pommel are sturdy and resilient steel and the wooden grip is bound in leather which was wet-wrapped around the grip and overwrapped in cord. When dry, the cord was unwrapped to leave a textured cord impression that gives and improved grip for its bearer. To complete the upgrades for this sword, a wood-core scabbard which is bound in leather and topped with a steel chape is included - a solid upgrade over the original soft leather sheath. 

This late 14th to early 15th century bastard sword by Windlass Steelcrafts is based on an original sword in the collection of the the MET in New York and takes it name from the 1422 Battle of Arbedo - a costly victory for the Duchy of Milan against the Swiss. A responsive sword, the Arbedo can be ably used both single-handedly and with two hands. The waisted grip accommodates a second hand and its tapered form ensures that it is not awkward to use when a single-handed grip is employed. The disk pommel can also fit well within the palm of the second hand for use with a modified second hand grip. Thus this versatile blend lends itself well to a array of hand grip styles and fighting forms - in skilled hands a warrior can switch between one and two handed techniques to best adapt to his situation and confound opponents.
