The Shinobi Shoto Waki from BattleBlades is an premium-quality straight bladed Wakizashi that perfectly complements the Shinobi Tanto to make a complete Shinobi sidearm set, though it also stands out as a remarkable piece on its own. This stout Wakizashi showcases exceptional traditional bladesmithing and craftsmanship throughout. With a robust blade featuring a thick spine, it is designed for penetrating thick clothing and the vulnerable areas of armor—making it an ideal sidearm for a quick-striking shinobi. It is substantially thicker at this spine than many other Wakizashi giving the blade truly stand out stiffness that turns it into a very capable and rather fearsome piercing and puncturing weapon, in addition to having a keen cutting edge.
Crafted from 1095 high carbon steel, the hand-sharpened blade showcases a striking and visible hamon in the form of dancing flames, accentuated by a high-quality mirror polish. The habaki and seppa are made of brass, and the hardwood tsuka is elegantly wrapped in genuine rayskin and the finest grade silk ito. The tanto is completed with blackened, glossy iron fuchi and kashira, along with blackened menuki placed beneath the ito folds.
The wooden saya is well carved and coated in a glossy black lacquer and features polished buffalo horn fittings for the kurikata, koiguchi, and kojiri. For storage and transport, the sword comes with a silk bag, and it also includes the manufacturer's production certificate.
