Iron Tiger Forge - Sea Serpent - 1050 Differentially-Hardened Katana
The Sea Serpent Katana from Iron Tiger Forge is both an excellent entry point for the new collector of Japanese swords or a great sword for building out your collection at excellent value – It brings high quality fittings, blade geometry and a real clay tempered blade at a great price. The highly detailed fittings are antiqued fine-cast brass and feature sea dragons set amidst the roiling sea with detailing picked out in polished brass.
The differentially-tempered blade is crafted from 1050 high carbon steel and has been traditionally clay-tempered to feature an authentic hamon. The differential tempering results in a razor-sharp, hardened edge matched with a resilient, shock-absorbing blade body and spine. Its habaki and seppa are made of brass, while the tsuba, fuchi, and kashira are fashioned from antiqued brass. The wooden tsuka grip is adorned with panels of genuine rayskin and wrapped with meticulously knotted artificial silk ito in a refined, traditional brown hue. This artificial silk offers a superior, authentic feel in the hand, far outperforming the coarse, "scratchy" chemical fiber ito often found on lower-quality budget katanas.
The sword is complemented by a beautifully carved and polished wooden saya crafted from richly finished rosewood. The saya is adorned with a knotted sageo cord in dark blue. eA cloth sword bag is included for convenient storage and transport.
