Overview

Kingston Arms - HEMA Blunt Fencing Side Sword - 2026

The New (2026) Fencing Side Sword from Kingston Arms is a blunt edged and safe, agile training weapon forged from resilient and tempered 5160 high carbon steel with a rolled tip for safety. It is well-suited for HEMA sparring, drills, sport combat and certain types of reenactment combat. With a blade length of 34.5" and with the sword having a point of balance of about 2.5" this sword is quite responsive, quick and easy to point and thrust, ably capturing the versatile cut-and-thrust prowess of 16th- and 17th-century Renaissance military and civilian arms.

Now crafted at the Dragon King Forge in Dalian by Hanwei’s original artisans under Frenchie Jin, the retooled swept hilt, 5.5-inch grip, and pommel boast crisp, clean lines evocative of early German originals, with a reinforced guard and fortified handle design to prevent loosening during intense, prolonged sessions. Based on an authentic German side sword, the blade and complex hilt provide exceptional hand protection and balanced handling in a 42.5-inch overall frame. This fencing model retains the beloved attributes of its sharp counterpart, the Renaissance Side Sword (SM22031), while earning its place as a HEMA staple for practitioners and reenactors.
