The United Cutlery Medieval Longsword is fully functional and designed as a capable cut-and-thrust knightly weapon that will capably cut and slice practice cutting targets whilst retaining the blade rigidity needed for effective puncturing. It has the styling of a historical 14th / 15th century longsword and by following the lines and proportions of these classic swords it inherits the tried-and-true handling properties of these swords which had their form and evolution shaped by the reality of deadly combat. It is a sword well suited for collectors and practical cutting practitioners alike.

The blade is forged from 1080 tempered high carbon steel, a steel well regarded for its combination of hardness, durability, and edge retention. Measuring 36 inches in length, the blade features geometry that supports both effective cutting and controlled thrusting, making it a versatile interpretation of the longswords carried throughout much of medieval Europe. The blade is mounted to the hilt with a solid peened tang over the pommel, creating a secure and time-tested construction that reinforces the overall durability of the sword.

Weighing slightly more than 3 lbs, the sword has a point of balance a bit more than 3.5 inches from the guard, giving it a lively and responsive feel in the hands. This balance allows the blade to move fluidly while still retaining enough forward presence to deliver authoritative cuts. The grip measures about 7.5 inches, providing ample room for a comfortable two-handed hold and the leverage needed for powerful strikes and controlled point work. The hilt follows a traditional medieval layout with a straight crossguard and a solid pommel that contributes to the sword’s balance and control. The grip features a wood core wrapped in leather, creating a secure and comfortable surface for extended handling.

Accompanying the sword is a wood-core scabbard covered in leather, designed to protect the blade and complement the sword’s medieval character. The scabbard is fitted with durable metal fittings. Combining classic medieval styling with reliable construction and balanced handling, the United Cutlery Medieval Longsword offers a solid and attractive option for collectors and enthusiasts seeking a traditional European two-handed sword.
