The Hanwei Performance Series Katana (PSK) Elite Katana returns as a refined evolution of one of the most respected practical cutting swords in the modern katana market. Combining traditional Japanese aesthetics with performance-focused engineering, this updated release preserves the proven cutting characteristics that made the original Performance Series a favorite among martial artists while introducing newly refined fittings and refreshed craftsmanship. Built as a dedicated workhorse designed to slice both light and heavy targets with ease. The PSK Elite Katana delivers authoritative handling, durable construction, and dependable cutting power for practitioners and enthusiasts alike.

The Performance Series was originally developed to provide specialized blade geometries tailored to different cutting styles and training needs. The Elite profile was designed as a powerful all-around cutting sword with a focus on decisive target penetration and strong follow-through. Unlike lighter variants within the series, the Elite features a solid blade with no bo-hi groove, allowing for greater blade mass and enhanced momentum through the cut. This heavier blade presence gives the sword a more authoritative feel in motion and makes it especially well suited for practitioners seeking stronger cutting performance on dojo targets and tatami.

Forged from durable 1566 high carbon steel, the blade measures 39 5/8" overall and is differentially-hardened to combine a hard cutting edge with a tougher, more resilient spine. This traditional heat treatment method helps maintain edge retention while improving shock resistance during repetitive cutting practice. The shinogi-zukuri blade geometry balances cutting efficiency with structural strength, giving the sword the versatility needed for a broad range of cutting applications.

The tsuka measures just over 10" in length and provides secure two-handed leverage for controlled handling and edge alignment. Panels of faux rayskin beneath the wrap maintain the traditional appearance while offering added texture beneath the tightly applied premium cotton ito. The result is a firm, comfortable grip with dependable traction during extended training sessions. Updated tsuba, fuchi, kashira, and menuki feature sharper detail and cleaner lines thanks to newly recreated molds, giving the sword a refreshed appearance while preserving the recognizable styling of the original Performance Series. Completing the package is a wood-core saya scabbard finished in a deep glossy lacquer, paired with a sageo cord for traditional presentation and carry. A protective cloth sword bag is also included for convenient storage and transport.

Originally associated with the renowned Hanwei forge, the Performance Series legacy now continues through the skilled craftsmen of the Dragon King forge in Dalian under the direction of Frenchie Jin, a longtime contributor to the original Hanwei production process. The result is a continuation of the trusted Performance Series tradition: practical Japanese swords engineered for serious cutting performance and relied upon by martial artists around the world.
