LK Chen - Military Cutting Dao - Long Blade Version
This very large Dao is the the fruit of a study done by martial artist LK Chen on the "Large Saber" of the Late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China (1900-1949). Taking his references from historical examples and from an in-depth look through a practical 1933 military saber manual authored by Jin ZnZhong. With its large and sweeping blade this military Dao is more than capable of exceptionally powerful cuts and slices to tatami, bottles and other targets. Its blade is very thick in the spine for durability near the guard and it has a dramatic amount of distal taper near its flared tip. Its long grip not only affords plenty of leverage, but also aids in balancing the sword to keep it surprisingly maneuverable for its size.
The forged blade which measures almost 38 inches in length is crafted from GB 60Si2MnA High Carbon Manganese Spring Steel with a tempered hardness of 56-58 HRc. Its grip is wood with a practical cord wrap with its iron ring pommel and blade tang all sturdily pinned to the wood grip. The beautiful scabbard is made from smoothly polished Rosewood and is finished with fittings on stainless steel.
