Legacy Arms – Dark Sentinel Sword

The Legacy Arms Dark Sentinel blends Eastern and Western sword design into a distinctive hybrid "katana-longsword" with a striking appearance and lively handling. This re-release of a Hanwei classic retains the original’s unique character while introducing refinements to its fit and finish. The redesigned hilt features a longer grip extending from the guard to the pommel, while the guard, pommel, and other fittings have been refined for a cleaner, more precise finish. The leather for the grip has been upgraded from a basic suede to a more impressive smooth grain leather.

The Dark Sentinel pairs a saber-like blade with the long, katana-inspired grip, combining swift, agile cuts with the leverage needed for powerful two-handed strikes. Its nimble handling and excellent cutting performance make it an enjoyable and capable choice for backyard cutting, while offering a distinctive opportunity to experience the feel and function of a sword that bridges Eastern and Western traditions. The forged 1566 high-carbon steel blade is complemented by a stylized, tsuba-inspired guard and a leather-wrapped grip designed to accommodate both single-handed fencing and two-handed use.

The blade measures 31 1/4 inches and the sword weighs 2 lbs. 7 oz., with a point of balance approximately 3 inches from the guard. A wooden scabbard finished in textured black lacquer and fitted with stainless steel accents completes the sword.
