Legacy Arms – Sultan’s Scimitar

The revitalized and re-issue of the classic Hanwei Scimitar comes back with updated finishing and decorative detailing. Its deeply curved blade evokes the historic conflicts between Saracen and Crusader armies, while the new etched pattern on both sides of the blade adds beautiful middle eastern design. The stainless steel guard and pommel feature a titanium PVD coating designed to resist scratches and tarnishing while looking almost identical to brass but with more toughness and resistance to cosmetic blemishing. The sword can balance edge-up and has a thickened spine that lends itself well to balancing on the palms or head, making it a fine choice for bellydance or other performative arts. Although it is unsharpened by factory default, we can sharpen it and make it usable for backyard cutting.

The 30-inch blade is crafted from 1566 high-carbon steel and features a pronounced curve characteristic of the scimitar's cutting-focused design. A hardwood grip bound in very dark brown leather and a falcon-headed pommel complement the stainless steel fittings. Weighing 3 lbs. 3 oz. with a point of balance approximately 7 1/4 inches from the guard, this scimitar makes a striking addition to a sword collection and is particularly suited to display and Eastern dance performance. Although the edge is blunt, the tip remains sharp and should be handled with appropriate care. We can blunt or round the tip by request.
