Overview
The Estrella Cup Hilt Rapier - Romance of Men
Swift, easy to point and accurate on the thrust, the Estrella Cup Hilt Rapier is a stylish take on the classic Spanish rapier with its own star pattern cup hilt replicating the look of period piercework. The long and narrow blade of 65 Mn steel has a thick ricasso at the base of the blade with considerable distal taper toward the tip which aid greatly in balancing the sword favorably in the hand. The blade edges are sharp and plenty capable of quick cuts and slashes. At 34 inches in length the blade is on the shorter end of rapier blades but this only helps toward making it a agile performer in the hand that is easy on the wrist.
The extensive hilt is stainless steel with a subtle antiqued finish. The cup is expansive, providing plenty of protection to the hand and is both riveted and welded to the hilt for a solid connection. The 4" grip is durable ABS material that is wrapped in genuine leather. A well-formed peen of the tang end over the pommel gives the sword a lasting and robust construction. Matching the sword is a wood core scabbard with a tight wrap of genuine dark blue leather which is finished with sword hangers of matching faux leather.
