Age of Craft - HMB English Sword
The Age of Craft English Sword is a durable and sturdily built arming sword designed for rigorous HMB / Buhurt sport combat. Its blade is G65 spring steel and its thickly blunted edges are approximately 3mm in thickness throughout. The hilt was solidly constructed by welding the steel crossguard and pommel with the tang and a binding of spiralled leather completes the sword.

While designed with HMB in mind Age of Craft armor and gear is also eminently suitable for SCA, ACL, and other combat sports where premium protection is paramount.

Now I’m writing this having returned this sword to hopefully help other buyers. The build is solid and the edges are thick and the over-all sword is heavy – BUT if you think of Battle of the Nations or Buhurt or as a pell beater that is probably what you want. I thought I could have it so double duty: Buhurt, heavy trainer for strength, and a sparring feder for SCA/HEMA, but upon picking it up I immediately knew this would not be good for those contexts. So hopefully this helps save shipping for you. Greatly overbuilt as something to really “wallop” your opponent with or as a heavier trainer to build strength, but much too heavy and not nimble enough for sparring for I.33 or SCA. And even if you’re strong enough to weild it nimbly, you’ll want to treat your HEMA or SCA sparing partner better than this…unless you have a grudge! Shame as it really is beautiful in style and very solid in build. Like who needs a mace, this will dent armor just as good!
