Just got it in. Awesome! Super uniform throughout. No warping or slight twist. Thick and sturdy. They weld the pieces together, which is fine. The rivets are real through and through and not mindless nowhere decoration. There’s usually a rivet above each weld too. I’m pretty sure it would warp and misshape before any breaking apart of the panels. The inside was done pretty well. Very heavy coating inside but not globbed in there. Of course there’s nitpicks, but for the price of this, are you kidding? At 16g you wouldn’t spar in this, but it really feels like it could take several glaces easily. I’m really impressed with the uniformity of the shape. It’s nice and oval, not circular. And it actually fits the head and face really well. No it does NOT press against the nose. At least with my head shape, the helm leans forward. (It wants to hug the back of my head, it pushes away from the face, naturally( this is ultra key for these non nasal cut helms. It is also humanly proportional. Some cheap sugarloafs are comedically large, this one actually looks properly sized. As far as generic off the shelf goes. Absolutely 5/5 stars. Deepeeka has some diamond gems if you know which ones to look at! Shipping was perfect, helmet was totally secure, not a single scratch I could find. Awesome. Thanks. You’ll need a suspension system, but other than that, there is no way you can go wrong here.

Common Questions

It is crafted from 16 gauge mild steel with a front cross of riveted brass plates; the interior is blackened and unlined, and a padded cotton arming cap is included.

The pointed sugarloaf profile spreads weight evenly with a forward lean typical of great helms; ventilation holes and narrow eye slits prioritize protection over wide visibility.

At 16 gauge mild steel it is more suited to costume, display, and light reenactment; use a proper suspension/liner and follow your group’s safety standards before any contact activity.

The helm is unlined but includes a simple padded cotton arming cap. Many users add a suspension system or custom liner for fit.

It is a 14th‑century sugarloaf variant of the great helm associated with Crusader-era European armor.

Manufacturer: Deepeeka; Country of Origin: India.

Keep the steel lightly oiled, wipe dry after use, and periodically polish the brass cross; the blackened interior helps resist rust but still benefits from dry storage.

Gauge: 16; Type: Great Helm; Material: Mild Steel with brass cross; Weight: approx. 5 lb 10.6 oz.

No. The stand shown in photos is for demonstration only.

Narrow horizontal eye slits and multiple perforations on the lower face plate provide limited but functional vision and ventilation consistent with great helms.
