15th Century Hand and a Half Cluny Sword - Deepeeka
This replica of the 15th Century Cluny Longsword has a blade forged from C60 high carbon steel with a tapered cut-and-thrust profile. The crossguard and pommel are steel and the guard chape is leather over a wood form. The long and tapered grip has a core of wood and it is overlaid in leather cordage and completed with bands of knotted leather.
The wood-core scabbard is overlaid in tight and stitched leather and finished with a steel chape tip. With its tapered blade and counterweight pommel, this longsword is both agile and responsive.
This sword is based on an original 15th century sword, now kept within the collection of the National Museum of Medieval Art (the Cluny Museum) in Paris.

decent pretty good and sturdy, definitely aesthetically beautiful except that the end of the blade tapirs off to on side. its not to noticeable but a lot of people would be bothered by that.

Pros: its light, strong, anazingly so, responsive, eye catching, was easily sharpened. Got it to paper cutting sharp within half an hour, it cuts just as well as a thrust, has become a favourite of my collection. U could go on about tests but its passed all with flying colours. I love this blade
Brilliant Its a look i personally love, the design might of hampered my training but its become my defacto solo drill blade for hema excercise. Its well balanced, easily used one handed or two, as a good bastard sword shoild hamdle. It vame with two scratches, and the blade does have a cm’s twist to the blade. However if your not a youtuber with a need to beat down on affordable steels then that does not matter. Very practical, light and durable, and i have sparred with this and its held up Really well. Buy it if you want a bastard sword that looks awesome and os practical and you dont want to get in debt.
Efficient and beautiful Lighter than i thought it would ve, handles so well, holds an edge well, and in sparring has performed well without any permanent scratches or notches. And it can be used ine handed easily. Aesthetically it is almost show off in its unusual colours.
Great steel and easy to alter for HEMA use! I bought this sword for it’s price and it’s steel as it is good steel (as the video review says). When I received the sword it wasn’t just wrapped up in paper like the video shows. It was in it’s own personal box inside the larger box (of course paper was around the inner box for cushioning).
What did I do to improve the design and sturdiness?
I first removed the pommel and took everything off the tang. After that I took off the wrapping and sanded down the grip to a more fitting comfort to my hand. I then re-wrapped the handle with 4oz leather and laid thinner leather strips over the top for design. I removed the throat piece around the blade (it was just glued on and I was surprised at the quality of glue used). I cut off the turned portions of the cross-guard as they were a little too long for my liking and was finding the guard to be more of a hindrance as it would make contact with my forearm. I then put everything back together heated the end of the tang up and peened it down over the pommel, ultimately turning this nut style pommel into a peened one.
The scabbard that comes with the blade is the perfect length if you want to remove the throat piece as well. This was something I was worried about as I thought my blade might be visible without the piece but it goes all the way to the crossguard.
This was my very first sword purchase and after the minor alterations it is more realistic and sturdy than what I received. I am in no way a blacksmith or swordsmith and I was able to make this blade much more reliable for use in HEMA classes and battles with basic tools. The most “advanced” tool I had to use was a high temperature torch to heat the end of the tang and peen it down but that’s it and all I used was a simple depot store bought torch for $20.
Good sword for the price. It’s sturdy enough and is aesthetically pleasing enough. The guard looks beautiful, the scabbard fits the sword with no noticeable rattle. The red colors, while not exactly accurate to the original, looks great. My only complaints are that the scabbard feels relatively weak and cheap in comparison to the sword’s quality and that the pommel had a very small amount of rust on arrival. Great if you’re looking for a cheaper sword for decoration or drills, not so great if you want an exact replica of the original. I’m not sure if the blade is good enough for sparring. Based on my usage with it so far, I doubt the unsharpened blade could harm anyone more than a federschwert would.
Very pretty and all but it arrived with the metal being very weak and when you tapped the bottom it would shake the whole sword
I picked this up as part of the 2025 holiday season and paid $125 and what a great bargain! This sword is great! I had always shied away from Deepeeka over various internet forum QA issues, but I was thoroughly surprised with the quality and aesthetics of this blade. I will defiantly be picking up another Depeeka sword and highly recommend the Cluny Sword. It feels nimble in the hand and looks great as part of a 15c costume.
Great budget sword!
The bad:
-Blade is very wavy from being hammered
-very slight asymmetry in grind towards the tip.
-super tight fit into scabbard
Neutral:
-came dull and will have to sharpen myself (I did not pay for the sharpening service and understand this is common on indian made blades)
The good:
-well balanced, pov is a few inches in front of the guard combined with a relatively narrow and tapered blade = a very good feeling in hand
-beautiful leatherwork and scabbard
-handle is grippy with leather risers assisting in finger placement
Overall: aside from the wavy aesthetics of the bare blade this thing looks absolutely beautiful on my wall in its scabbard.
