New Legacy Arms - Roman Mainz Gladius Sword
This re-release of the Legacy Arms Mainz Gladius has a greatly improved blade with superior steel and heat treatment over its original Mainz Gladius predecessor. Weight, balance and all-around usability have been substantially improved!
The early Roman Gladius, with its wasp-waisted blade and elongated point, masterfully blended cutting prowess with thrusting might, forging a versatile weapon of war. Later iterations adopted straighter blades while retaining the long point. The Pompeii pattern, emerging in time, abandoned the waisted design and bore a shorter point, yet proved equally formidable and simpler to craft.
For many years, these blades served together in the hands of 4th-century Legionnaires, with both designs wielded side by side. Known as "the sword that conquered the world," this version boasts a high-carbon steel blade, a hardwood handle, and a polished steel spacer at the handle’s base for enhanced strength and durability. It comes paired with a wooden scabbard, cloaked in black leather and adorned with steel accents at the throat and tip.
This new version of the Mainz Gladius now features a slimmer handle radius for a surer grip. The handle and blade lengths have been rebalanced for superior handling and control. Note that the wood’s grain and hue will vary, making each sword unique. The scabbard has been upgraded with stainless steel fittings and a meticulously sewn leather wrap.
