This large Greatsword has a sharp blade of 5160/D2 high carbon steel. The base of the blade is wrapped in tightly fitted leather; this wrapping nicely facilitates the sword in the half-swording technique.
The robust crossguard and pommel are blued steel and the grip is overlaid in tight leather.
The sword comes with a large scabbard of stained wood. The scabbard locket and chape are stitched leather over wood. Leather bands with brass rings facilitate the wearing of the scabbard.
This large greatsword is a fierce chopper; though a large sword it is not overly heavy or unwieldy, particularly when the leather-covered ricasso is used as a forward grip.
This sword is clearly based on the sword used by Mel Gibsons portrayal of William Wallace in Braveheart. This version however is no mere movie prop and is quite functional.
