King of Bronze Standards After unpacking the sword I promptly tested it on wood panels. The blade did not hold up as well as steel but kept most of its shape.
Excellent quality. I was a little wary about having a blade riveted to the hilt, but it is very solid. It cuts just as well as steel on soft targets (I opted to have it sharpened), if you know what you’re doing and have good edge alignment, and I didn’t see any rolled edges or deformation when cutting through an old worn-out heavy bag. I don’t intend to use this for heavy chopping, because that’s just a stupid thing to do with bronze and why would I? But I practice with it, and it’s much easier to control than you may think for its weight and point of balance, (once again) if you know what you’re doing. I can easily change between handshake grip and thumb-on-the-flat grip while wearing gloves with either hand, and the hilt can accommodate a hammer grip. Don’t think that this sword is going to be too encumbering, I weigh about 140 pounds and handle it just fine with either hand. I would highly recommend this sword to anyone who wants to practice with a live edge, if they have used swords for a good amount of time.
Absolutely stunning. I’ve been wanting a bronze weapon for a long time and this one exceeded my expectations. Admittedly, I didn’t know much about bronze weapons but I personally feel the best way to learn is to take a chance and I’m glad I did. Much heavier than I expected (bronze is apparently heavier than steel) so the point of balance is far more forward than I’m used to. It’s my understanding bronze weapons bend instead of breaking so the extremely minor bend in mine is typical and kind of expected. I did opt for sharpening which was done very well but I’m still undecided if the sharpening was needed. Overall I’m thrilled I got my hands on this sword.
