The Castille Armory Economy Basket Hilt Ale House Dagger offers considerably more capability than its “Economy” designation might suggest. Rather than being an entry-level or beginner-focused weapon, it delivers excellent value with materials sourced in the USA and construction completed in Castille Armory’s Oregon workshop. Its durable, flexible blade makes it a practical choice for HEMA martial arts training and SCA sport combat, while its traditional basket-hilt design gives it plenty of appeal for collectaors and historical fencing enthusiasts. The 15″ blade features a simple rounded tip and has an F4 level of flex after tempering. (see below).
Its tough guard is made from 12 Gauge 100 grade “Domex” alloy steel to give excellent levels of protection to the hand. The dagger is constructed with a nut assembly and it can be dismantled down to its basic components for repair or replacement. The 5 inch long grip is very tough and practical PETG with a heavily textured, tactile grip.
Offered in F4 flex only- F4 @ ~30-32 lbs (13-13.5kg). F4 is high stiffness, legal for both HEMA and SCA C&T combat.
We offer a limited warranty* on all Castille Armory sword hilts, pommels and some handles for any reason that would cause the product not to pass regulation inspection within the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism), HEMA, and WMA groups. All Castille Armory combat blades are warrantied* for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase for any reason that would cause the blade to not pass regulation inspection within the SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism), HEMA, and WMA groups.
