The Cold Steel Man At Arms Arming Sword has a sharpened blade crafted from 1090 high carbon steel with a deep blued finish. The guard and pommel are of steel with a matching blued finish; the grip is overlaid in black leather with ribbed risers beneath the leather for an enhanced grip. The leather scabbard is finished with a blackened steel throat locket and chape.

Robust and practical, this arming sword is akin to the types worn as sidearm swords for both the knightly class and well-equipped men-at-arms of the late Medieval period. Swords of this type were well-at-home at the sword belt of crossbowmen and halberdiers, with more finely finished examples being wielded by squires and knights.

With an acutely tapered, quadrangular point this sword design is a very capable cut-and-thrust sword. Well able to deal a decisive puncture wound, the blade yet retains enough width to ensure it can cut and hack with definitive force.

Exactly as expected. Very satisfied with purchase. Robust design & manufacture, well-balanced, beautiful product.

Excellent Product Before I bought this sword I bought a different sword but returned it before it arrived because it would take 5 weeks to arrive, that wa not the case with this sword. After I bought it the sword came 4 days later. It feels great in the hand. The tip is super sharp and it perfect for any kind of thrust. Even though the blade says sharp a it’s status it was not as sharp as I expected but it’s still plenty sharp to do any kind of cutting with. 4.5/5

I got the scratch and dent version The sword is well-balanced, beautifully understated in its elegance, and solidly-constructed. I wanted to save a little and got a factory blemished one…there was a spot on the blade where the bluing wasn’t completely well-cone. Oh, well; it’s not like it’s not going to get wear n’ tear, right? The grip is a little long–but just right when I put on a plate gauntlet. It completes my all-black sword collection, and I got it specifically for use with a buckler. My only complaint is–and I was somewhat expecting this–that it isn’t sharp. For instance, I slashed at a foam noodle and some dead wild rose vines; it didn’t so much cut as break them. Seriously, it wouldn’t cut foam. So, I’ve got some sharpening to do…which, as I noted, I was expecting. However, it arrived more dull than expected.

Unbelievable quality and handling. Beautiful and solid. A lot of swords say battle ready. On this sword I believe them. My only complaint is that the blade is not that sharp, but nothing i cant fix my self. Worth every penny.

Amazing This is a truly battle ready sword.

I owned two of these babies, but had to get rid of them. I’m going to start collecting again.y only criticism is that when sharpening the blade, the finish seems to come off in such an easy way. Other than that, it just felt right in my hand.

It is in my sweet spot. I can easily pay more and get less sword. I cannot easily pay less and get more sword. Great with a buckler, it can back up a mounted archer, cutting well enough and thrusting better. Which is what many Slavic light horse did with them.
