Overview

Condor Valhalla Throwing Axe

The Valhalla Throwing Axe by Condor has a durable axehead of 1060 high carbon steel which is mounted to a haft of burnt American Hickory. Both sides of the haft are inscribed with Viking knotwork and runes. Included is an edge cover which is crafted from stitched, thick leather and fastened with a antiqued steel pin.

The axehead has an integrated set screw which can be used to supplement the fitting of the axehead to the haft. It is tightened with a small allen key (not included) - this can help tighten the fitting of the axehead should it loosen. Care must be taken to not overtighten, as this can drive the set screw too far into the haft.

Such a shame.. Everything about this axe is beautiful and really emphasizes the viking design of it. That is, until you see the huge ugly “El Salvador” stamp on it. Also, as a throwing axe this shouldn’t require a pin to keep the head on. That just shows the designers don’t understand how a throwing axe works. With the pin in the impact of each throw of this axe will tear up the hickory. I’ve seen it happen dozens of times. Pins like this will ruin your axe.

GEBR Weyesberg Co. was founded in 1787 and became one of the world’s largest manufacturers of knives and swords. When they founded Condor Tool & Knife they shipped state-of-the-art german manufacturing equipment to the new company and sent skilled employees to train the new workforce to make high quality and well-standardized knives, tools, and swords. Local El Salvadorean investors purchased Condor in the 1980s and it continues to run today operating 24/7 to fulfill worldwide demand.
