Overview
Darksword Armory Guardian Sword with Black Integrated Sword Belt
The Guardian sword by Darksword has a blade forged from 5160 high carbon steel. The sword blade has been dual-tempered, meaning it has been heat treated to have a hard edge of 60 HRC and a softer core of 48-50 HRC. This gives the blade an edge that will not dull easily and a core that is not brittle, as it can flex when striking or parrying. Most swords opt for a single tempering that is a compromise between these values, but in this case Darksword has optimized the tempering on the differing parts of the blade.
The guard and pommel are of steel and the large wooden grip is wrapped with tight black leather. Its fitted companion scabbard is of wood and it is overlaid with black leather and finished with a metal chape and an integrated black leather sword belt.
Designed by Jason Woodard of Factory X, the Guardians name was inspired by Jasons surname. His name, dating at least to early medieval England, is a combination of Old English wode (wood) and ward (guardian). It is a name that would originally have denoted a steward of a wooded area or a forester.
