This sallet helmet is constructed from 18 gauge steel and is fitted with a hinged visor and embellished with brass ornamentation. A side-mounted pin locks the articulated visor into position – when raised it can be raised far from the face and well out of the way. The interior of the helmet is unlined and blackened to resist rust.

A common and well-regarded helmet of the 15th century the visored sallet offered excellent protection to the head and when coupled with a gorget it allowed for a range of modifiable configurations. The visor can be raised to allow for improved vision and breathing when not in heavy combat and if a gorget is worn then the neck and lower half of the face will still be protected.

There are four issues with this helmet, two are arguably subjective, one is objective, and the fourth might depend on historical accuracy.
As for the objective it doesn’t include a chin strap, and even as a stage prop this is a problem as you are putting half a baby on your head. I’d challenge any doubters to test this issue, but halved infants are rare and quite possibly illegal to fasten on your scalp, so I’ll move on.
For the historical one, the visor is attached with hex nuts, and even if that is true to history or not they can be very uncomfortable when rubbing against the ears and temples.
For the two subjective, and this may be entirely my own fault, the helmet is a tight fit even without a cloth pad, and the tail is prone to digging into the wearer’s back.
In the maker’s defense I am 5’11” give or take a few cm, and I may just have more dense neanderthal genes.
I can’t say anything about the build quality beyond the superficial, as I can not wear it. But to my untrained eye it looks pretty and the visor moves, so I might recommend it to a small headed actor below 5’7, but beyond that I can’t give any thoughts one way or another.
