Dragon King - Sea Wave Wakizashi - Blemished Grade
Dragon Kings Sea Wave Wakizashi is a stylistic match for the Sea Wave Katana or a fine and fetching sword on its own. Its highly detailed fittings depict the roiling waves of the ocean and this is thematically matched in the wave-like hamon of the blade and the rippled patterning that belies a blade of folded steel.
The blade is high carbon steel and its deep and long bo-hi groove lightens the blade to create a swift and eminently responsible Wakizashi. The blade was differentially tempered to imbue it with a hardened edge of 60 HRc hardness and a softer, shock-absorbing body of 40 HRc.
The antiqued tsuba, fuchi and kashira are silvered with detailing picked out in brass and choice blackening for contrast.The hardwood grip is inlaid with genuine rayskin and finished with a fitted and tightly bound wrap of dark blue ito cord. Silver and gold wave menuki are fitted beneath the knotted ito folds.
The saya scabbard of wood is lacquered in a deep dark blue to match the sword and has a kurigata and koiguchi of carved and polished buffalo horn. A sageo of blue and contrasting white complete the sword. Included is a cloth sword bag.
