Additional information

This Parang Sword takes the general form of the traditional Parang Machete of Southeast Asia and enlarges it with a big, thick-spined blade and an elongated full-tang grip to transform it into an elegantly curved cleaver-bladed short sword. The blade is forged from 5160 high carbon steel which was sharpened to a keen edge. The blade was differentially-tempered to possess a dull-resistant 58-60 HRc, a body of 45-46 HRc and a shock absorbing spine of 22-25 HRc. The wide blade coupled with the mass of its thick spine ensure that this sword hits hard and cleaves and chops with great power.

The grip is crafted from two halves of well-carved and smoothly polished wood which are stoutly riveted to a thick blade tang to create an altogether robust and dependable construction. Its long grip gives plenty of leverage for two handed use for improved control and cutting power. The scabbard is constructed from carved wood which is overlaid in leather. A long belt loop with buttoned grip retention straps allows for the sword to be worn and secured.
