English Close Helm - 14 Gauge - Deepeeka
Crafted from high carbon steel, this knightly Close Helm is well-articulated with swivel-rivets; the pivoting grill-visor can be raised vertically and the front and back half of the helm can be opened to allow it to be easily fitted over the head. The plates protecting the neck are articulated as well so as to not restrict the movement of the neck. The grill protecting the face on the visor is stoutly riveted into place. An arming cap of cotton is included.
The interior of the helm is blackened and un-lined.
- The close helm was a development of the late Medieval and early Renaissance. These all-encompassing helms protected the entirety of the head. Many look very similar to the Armet, but the difference between a Close Helm and the Armet lies in how it is fitted to the head; The close helm opens vertically, whilst the front of the Armet opens laterally.
