Everest Forge – Ram Dao sword-Kāte

Please Note: It is common and standard for these handcrafted and hand-hammered swords to have to have wavy edges or blade spines, evidence of hammer blows and a higher degree of general asymmetry than what is our common standard. They are still functional and can cut well despite this asymmetry. 

The Kate Ram Dao from Everest Forge is a recreation of one of South Asia’s most iconic sacrificial and ceremonial blades. Known historically for its immense chopping power and deeply forward-weighted design, the Ram Dao was traditionally used in ritual contexts dedicated to fierce deities such as Kali—its broad, downward-curving form engineered for decisive, cleaving strikes. Weighing 3 lbs 5 oz with a point of balance at roughly 6.5 inches ahead of the grip, this weapon carries palpable forward drive, delivering powerful cuts and fierce hacks.

Forged from well-tempered 5160 high carbon steel, the 20-inch blade features the characteristic broad belly and heavy profile of a traditional Ram Dao. The thick spine and ample mass concentrated near the forward half of the blade generate immense chopping capability, making it one of Everest Forge’s most commanding cutters. A sharpened edge and robust geometry allow the blade to bite deeply into challenging targets while maintaining structural integrity. The full tang construction is anchored into a solid 6-inch wooden grip giving the wielder a secure and confident hold to control the blade’s significant weight and momentum. Included with the sword is a stitched leather sheath fitted with buttoned retaining straps for secure carry and storage.
