Overview

Hanwei - Sir William Marshall Sword

The Paul Chen / Hanwei Sir William Marshall Sword is based on an original, now in a British museum, used by one of Englands finest knights, Sir William Marshall, who served the crown faithfully under Henry II, Richard the Lionheart and Jack Lackland. This sword features a carbon steel blade tempered to a tough HRC 52. The blade section features a central ridged fuller and full-length distal taper - a tough test for the bladesmith but resulting in a superb combination of speed and strength. The grip is leather wrapped and laced and the guard and pommel are elegant in their functional simplicity. The scabbard is leather-covered with steel mounts. Truly a sword for the connoisseur.

Awesome sword, feels good in the hand, the Point of balance is 5.5” from guard, I like all my swords between 4-5.5” POB.
    Would recommend.

Great sword for the money. I will say though it’s not 2lbs 2oz. Feels closer to 2.5 lbs and is a bit tip heavy. But it’s a great sword overall.

Master sword smith Paul Chen created Hanwei Swords and led the early industry by creating authentic handmade swords of the highest grade steel over the last several decades. A favorite amongst the industry, the original Hanwei factory suffered from a fire and ownership changes. In 2025, the factory closed and original collaborator Frenchie Jin’s forge (Dragon King / Kingston Arms) has taken over, improving and reintroducing past models. The reinvented Hanwei focuses primarily on Japanese and Chinese models, including the Performance Series Katana. Many of the original European models are now adopted as part of the Kingston Arms line.
