The Honshu Boshin Grosse Messer utilizes modern materials and construction to create a modernized tactical remake of this classically fearsome late Medieval German sword. The sharpened blade is well suited to decisive cuts and is crafted from 1060 high carbon steel. The crossguard and pommel are steel and the blade tang is dual nut riveted to a grip of hardened thermoplastic rubber for a modern no-slip grip. A pre-drilled hole in the pommel readily accommodates the addition of your own wrist lanyard. The sword comes with a durable scabbard of leather complete with buttoned retaining straps and a pair of blackened metal hanging rings.

Please Note: This product tends to have a slightly loose guard and it is a common enough issue that it cannot be considered a defect and is representative of standard level of quality.

This is an awesome blade. The pics are a bit deceiving in that it it big, and heavy. It’s a two handed sword.

The blade I received was immaculate. The fine folks at Kult of Athena sharpened it well.

There are moden elements, namely the grip. It seems durable and it fits well in your hand.

      I love this sword.

It’s almost unusable because its so heavy. The blade also didn’t keep its edge for very long against soft mat targets.
Please don’t buy this. Mine just recently bent when I swung it, at AIR! It doesn’t appear to be full tang, and if I could post the horrific photo of it bent then I would.

Anyone considering should know this is a very heavy sword with an uneven balance, it is not for everyone. For me however it is fantastic. A great deal for a two-handed sword at this price. Solid construction and a legitimate blade.
