The Bangkon is a quick striker and is optimized forcleavingp chops and deep cutting power. This Moro fighting sword has a wide-tipped klewang blade of 5160 and D2 high carbon steel with a keenly honed edge and an overall blade hardness of 58-60 HRc. The grip is exotic Adaan wood with a horse-hoof shape pommel; a non-slip coating with a material similar to wing walk coupled with a binding wrap of black cord creates a sure grip. The bolster is brass and the scabbard is well-carved wood with bands of wrapped rattan. An antiqued steel retaining clip acts as a spring lock for the scabbard by gripping the bolster when sheathed.

The Bangkun is a purpose-built fighting blade of the Moro Tausug, Yakan and Samal tribes. The blade with its downward curve and elongated tip brings frightful chopping power to bear and does so with an overall design that remains light, fast and easily wielded.

Please Note: Due to being crafted in a tropical environment with native woods, it is common for these weapons to develop thin, minor cracks in the wood and the scabbard as the woods adjust to our more temperate environment. Cracks in items sent to you will not be harmful to the structural integrity of the item. Also – The decorative rattan wrapping can be brittle and may crack or break.

It is recommended that a light coating of protective oil is used to protect the wood from dryness and cracking.
