Moro Banyal

$244.99$289.99

The Moro Banyal has a blade designed for quick and deeply destructive chops and slashes and it is also a surprisingly capable thrusting blade as well with its acute tip. The slight downward orientation of the tip can act as a pick in a downward strike and will deliver substantial puncturing and splitting ability. A rather distinctive weapon, its design comes from the Moro of the Southern Philippines.

The blade is forged from a 5160 and D2 high carbon steel blend which was tempered to an overall hardness of 58-60 HRc before giving it a keenly sharp edge.

The bolster guard is stainless steel and the grip is elaborately carved iron wood. The sword is paired with a scabbard of well-carved wood with bands of wrapped rattan and an antiqued steel retention spring which will lock onto the sword guard when sheathed.

Please Note: Due to being crafted in a tropical environment with native woods, it is common for these weapons to develop thin, minor cracks in the wood and the scabbard as the woods adjust to our more temperate environment. Cracks in items sent to you will not be harmful to the structural integrity of the item. Also – The decorative rattan wrapping can be brittle and may crack or break.

It is recommended that a light coating of protective oil is used to protect the wood from dryness and cracking.
