Moro Kris Sword 3

(1 customer review)

$269.00$314.95

This Kris Sword has a distinctively formed and sharp blade of 5160/D2 high carbon steel with a tempered hardness of 58-60 HRC. Bands of brass are fitted to the base of the blade and the grip is formed from a brass ferrule and a grip of hardwood.

The scabbard is carved from wood and bound with bands of rattan. The sword and scabbard was crafted in the Philippines.

Please Note: It is common for the tropical hardwood used to craft the grip and scabbard of these weapons to develop small cracks as the wood adjusts to our temperate environment. We inspect these items for major cracks and will not send such items to you. We will however send items that may have small, light cracks. These are light cosmetic blemishes and we will not send you an item with a crack that impacts the structural integrity and usefulness of the weapon. These small and light cracks are common to the type of wood used.

By routinely applying a light coating of protective oil you can protect the wood from drying out in your own home.

  1. Christopher T.

Great Quality at a Great Price I ordered the TFW Moro Kris direct from Kult of Athena. It arrived well packaged and in near perfect condition. I would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the sword I received and the display sword in KoA’s photos. They mention that cosmetic cracking of the tropical wood hilt sometimes occurs in our temperate climate. I did not experience this.

The sword itself seems very well crafted. Blade is in perfect condition, hilt and all parts are tight and solid. The hilt is particularly comfortable in the hand.

From a design perspective, the point of balance is very far forward compared the other swords in my collection, nearly 7 inches compared to 2 to 4 inches in my others. You feel it the moment you pick up the Kris #3. All of the weight wants to move forward in one direction. It is not a nimble blade, but feels like it wants to cut deep. The forward sweep of the blade accentuates this feeling. I have not done any test cutting.

The sheath is simple, but aesthetically pleasing. It has zero blade retention and no carry options without additions or modifications. Silk or cotton cords would do the trick if you want waist or over the shoulder carry. My only concern with the sheath is the rattan bindings seem vulnerable to wear and breaking.

Final verdict for the Moro Kris #3 is excellent. Great production at a great price.
