Additional information

This Katana takes its namesake from the Cakra, the precious “wheel jewel” of Buddhism and the first of the “seven jewels of the universal monarchs” and a sign of the Enlightened Ruler. The tsuba of this katana is in the wheel-like form of the Dharma Chakra and a powerful symbol of Buddhism and the path to Enlightenment. All of these are powerful symbols to a Buddhist Samurai or a Sōhei warrior monk.

This Musashi Katana has a blade forged from 1060 high carbon steel which was clay-tempered in the traditional manner to endow the blade with an edge of hardened steel and a softer shock absorbing spine and body. The process also leaves a vibrant wave-like hamon along the blade edge. The tsuba guard, fuchi blade collar and kashira pommel cap are blackened antiqued brass with detailing picked out in bold gold color. The habaki and seppa are crafted from bright brass and the wooden grip is inlaid with panels of genuine rayskin. A knotted black cotton tsuka-ito cord completes the sword.

The sword comes with a wooden saya scabbard with a glossy black lacquer finish and a matching black sageo cord. Also included is a cloth sword bag and a serialized production certificate from the forge.
