Norman Sword - New Model - Deepeeka
The new version of the Norman Sword by Deepeeka is both a fitting sword for the early Medieval Normans, as well as a later period Viking sword and it has been improved over earlier models with more distal taper in the blade for improved weight, balance and handling characteristics as well as an improved fit and finish with the scabbard. The tempered blade has a hardness of 48-52 HRc and is forged from C60 high carbon steel, a steel with properties similar to 1060 high carbon steel.
The guard and pommel hilt components are forged from steel and the grip is wood which is bound in tight leather banding. The scabbard is crafted from wood and wrapped in matching leather It has binding cord of leather and a wood suspension loop for a belt or baldric by which a sword belt can be knotted or slotted into fixed position for wear.
A note on blade thickness. The base of the blade is about 4.9 mm thick. The thinnest part of the blade at the end of the fuller groove is 3 mm. The tip with its raised center ridge is 3.8 mm thick (These are approximations)
