Common Questions
No. It comes unsharpened with a tempered high carbon steel blade.
The hanger balances close to the guard with a P.O.B. of about 3 3/16 inches, giving a lively feel for quick cuts.
The guard is antiqued brass; the grip is contoured wood wrapped in black leather with a threaded pommel.
Yes. A matching leather scabbard with antiqued brass accents is included.
It is a functional, battle-ready hanger for reenactment or training; edge comes blunt, so cutting would require professional sharpening and adherence to local laws.
Overall length is 32.5 inches with a 26-inch blade; width is about 28.6 mm, distal taper 4.5–3.9 mm; weight is 1 lb 15 oz; grip length 4 1/8 inches.
Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts in India.
Styled after early modern pirate cutlasses (hanger type).
Keep the high carbon steel lightly oiled to prevent rust; wipe off factory grease if present, and condition the leather grip and scabbard periodically.
The pommel is threaded, allowing a secure assembly.

The blade has a slight curve to it but nothing noticeable if you don’t look closely. The leather stitching on the handle wants to dig into my fingers which isn’t pleasant. The leather of the scabbard isn’t particularly thick but it does stand up to abuse fairly well. All-in-all I find it to be a decent sword.
Squatch –
The look, fit, and finish is nice. The blade does not come sharp but is good quality and has a good geometry for sharpening. The biggest issue with this sword is the handle shape. It’s completely round so indexing is completely impossible. Additionally, the cigar shape causes the hand to slip forward against the guard and rubs uncomfortably against my knuckle. Overall, well made, but impractical and uncomfortable to hold.
Meep –
Well Made. Did not purchase from KoA. Came with some dirty grease on the blade from the factory. This was easy to clean and re-oil.

I like it. Solid construction only problem is the handle shape. Other than that, very nice blade.

Overall, the quality is pretty good, especially for the price. The only real issue is the handle. I’d never used a sword with round handle like this, and I don’t think I will again. As another reviewer stated, the handle makes indexing almost impossible. Any time I swung with moderate force the sword would twist in my grip unless I gripped unnecessarily hard, and edge alignment was nye impossible.
However, I made a proper handle out of some ash I had laying around and I no longer have those problems whatsoever.
If you’re ok with buying/making a better handle, this sword is a good deal for the quality. If you don’t want to get a new handle or deal with having to readjust your grip frequently, then this might not be for you.
