Red Dragon Armoury – Sport and Stage Combat Saber

The Red Dragon Armoury Stage Combat Saber has a cutlass-like guard and an unsharpened quadrangular flexing blade of high carbon steel; the tip has been rounded for safety. A grip of rubber is fitted over the tang. The sword can be unscrewed at the pommel to disassemble it for maintenance, ease of transport and to replace the blade if needed.

For HEMA, this product has been classified as either appropriate for all skill levels or appropriate for those with Advanced Skills. Michael Turner, instructor at Tuathair Academy of Swordsmanship, assisted us in categorizing these items for the different skill levels of HEMA participants. These categorizations are meant as guidelines. Please refer to tournament rules for specific competition requirements. For this purpose, we do not include swords that may be used in cutting competitions in the HEMA category.

This stage combat sword is intended to allow martial artists and stage combat practitioners to practice and recreate the saber combat of the 19th century or the fencing school combats of the early 20th century.
