Swordier - XVA Hand-and-a-Half Medieval Longsword
This XVa longsword is hand-forged by Swordier with a strong emphasis on functional performance. Its blade is crafted from quality 65 Mn tempered spring steel and features a diamond cross-section, giving it excellent stiffness for both cutting and thrusting. The stainless steel hilt has the blade robustly peened over its pommel for a strong mounting, while the grip is built on a wood core and wrapped tightly in genuine leather for a secure, two-handed hold. Designed to be a battle-ready sword, it is a solid choice for HEMA practitioners, historical reenactors, collectors, and anyone who appreciates a sword made to perform, not just display.
Though practical, the lines of this sword are elegant and purposeful. Inspired by Oakeshott Typology XVa (a form common in the 14th–15th century) this design balances thrusting capability with cutting potential. Its 33 inch spring-steel blade tapers from 5.4 mm at the base down to 2.8 mm near the tip, delivering a refined balance of agility and power. Weighing a bit more than 3 lbs and with a point of balance approximately 4.5 inches from the guard, the sword feels lively in the hands without sacrificing the authority of a substantial blade. The 6 inch leather wrapped grip gives generous space for two-handed handling, allowing for strong leverage in powerful cuts or controlled precision in thrusts.
Included with the sword is a quality scabbard with a core of wood and it's covered in genuine leather styled with a new convex pattern. The scabbard matches the sword’s design ethos—durable, functional, and authentic. Whether stored, carried, or displayed, it provides both protection and elegance and is completed with two brass buckles that allow for it to be slung from your own sword belt and hangers.

This is a good sword. I have reviewed this item, link below. In a nutshell it is a very well made sword, good balance, very sharp out of the box, overall quality is quite good with one exception. It is the SAME sword blade as Swordiers original XVIIIc sword. Subsequently they have offered a version 2 XVIIIc that is closer in typology to what an XVIIIc should be. This sword is super sexy. I think the newer versions have a reinforced tip. Mine was a first gen and so the tip can be damaged if you hit the end of it on a harder target.
