Vision -The Tauber XVIIIb Longsword with Scabbard – Collaboratively Crafted by Angus Trim and Valiant Armoury

The Valiant Armoury X Angus Trim Vision is a collaborative effort between famed swordmakers Angus Trim and Valiant Armoury. Vision creates premium, entirely made in the USA swords that meld Trim’s magnificently optimized performance blades with the hilt design, robust construction and superior leatherwork that is the hallmark of Sonny and Zach Suttles at Valiant Armoury. The final product preserves the ideal blade harmonics and balance needed for each sword to perform to its fullest potential and is a heirloom-tier sword.

The blade is crafted from 5160 high carbon steel with a spring-tempered hardness of 51-53 HRc. The type XVIIIb blade is suitably rigid for this type of sword and is well suited to the cut and the thrust. It has a thickened base for durability and begins with a hexagonal cross-section which tapers gently to a diamond cross-section blade. A hot-peen construction that melds the blade and hilt together at the pommel gives it a very strong and lasting hilt construction. The crossguard and pommel are crafted from steel with an antiqued finish and the grip is carved from Poplar and tightly bound in brown leather to complete the sword.

The scabbard is handcrafted by Valiant Armour and is a wood-core scabbard which is tightly bound in antiqued top grain red leather and matched with an antiqued brown sword belt. The scabbard is completed with a protective metal chape.

Pretty much perfection in sword form! This sword is nimble, beautiful, a joy to hold and cut with, and everything you could hope for.

This sword really is worth every penny. Excellent handling, weight and balance. It is beautiful in motion or on display. Valiant and Angus really hit it out of the park! and I love this collaboration! So sad (but wonderful) they are going so quickly i starting looking at The Strasbourg model but alas…sold out =(
