Chainmail Standard / Bishop's Mantle - Darkened Alternating Mild Steel Wedge Riveted Flat Rings and Solid Flat Rings - Lord of Battles
This chainmail standard has a collar of mail sewn onto a backing of leather which can be adjusted to fit with its pair of leather straps and brass buckles. The blackened rings are constructed from wedge-riveted flat rings which alternate with solid flat rings. Each individual ring is 9 mm in diameter and 17 gauge in thickness.
This standard is a convenient and effective way of upgrading the armor protection of your mail haubergeon or hauberk by adding essential protection for the neck and collar.

Versatile Addition! A very well made and useful addition to my hauberk. It obviously adds protection, but it’s also a great place to attach my jack chains. A leather thong will securely hold the pauldron portion of the jack chain and keep it in place very well. I like having the option of having good arm and shoulder protection without necessarily wearing a cuirass or gorget.
I live in a warm part of the country, and having the ability to avoid plate and use a light weight gambeson while still retaining a high level of protection really adds o the enjoyment of the occasion.
It’s also nice that the mantle is very authentic (wedge riveted is closest to original mail) and because it’s almost never covered, it gives a good impression of historic accuracy.
This is a very good investment in both protection and authenticity.
